Grounded Psychological Services, LLC is now at a new location - 1114 N Dodge St, Ste B, Iowa City, IA
Payment is expected at the time of service, and you are ultimately responsible for all fees associated with your care at Grounded Psychological Services.
Cash, credit/debit cards, and checks are accepted.
I accept Wellmark BCBS and Medicare. If you have a different kind of insurance, I can also provide documentation of services so that you can submit a claim on your own behalf.
If you plan to utilize your health insurance to pay for care, be proactive in understanding your particular benefits. Before first visit, call the customer service number on your insurance card and ask the following:
· Is pre-authorization required?
· What is my deductible for mental health care? Do I have co-insurance? What is my co-payment per visit?
· Can I also file with a secondary insurance (other parent, spouse)
· How many therapy visits are covered per year?
· Is Dr. Isaac Hooley in-network for your plan?
· If not in-network, how much is my co-pay?
In order to utilize health insurance to pay for your care, a mental health diagnosis is typically required to prove the medical necessity of engaging with psychotherapy. This diagnosis becomes part of your medical record. If you do not meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, or do not wish to receive such a diagnosis, you will need to pay out of pocket.
The first meeting is considered a consultation, and we typically meet for 60 minutes. The primary goals of the consultation are to explore your concerns and to get a sense of whether we are well matched to work together. After discussing the informed consent information and answering any questions you have for me, we'll spend the majority of our time talking about what is bringing you to therapy. While some questions may be open-ended and exploratory, I may have more specific questions for you, too. We'll collaborate to identify the primary goals you have for therapy. At the end of our meeting, we'll decide together if you want to continue meeting with me and if I can offer the level and type of care needed to address your concerns.
I typically meet with clients on Tuesdays afternoons, Wednesdays, and Thursday mornings during the business day.
I am committed to answering any questions you have about therapy and what to expect in our work together. It's always ok to ask questions! I will provide you with several documents outlining what to expect from therapy, fees and billing, confidentiality and privacy, and other policies before we meet for the first time.
You can find it here:
While the first consultation appointment lasts 60 minutes, therapy appointments typically last for 45-50 minutes. While we may, on occasion, need 60 minutes for a therapy session (if you are in a crisis or need more time for support), please be aware that a 60-minute session is billed at a higher rate than a 45-minute session.
I meet with clients both in person and/or by telehealth. We'll decide together what makes the most sense for you.
